I-Witness Activity November 14th 2011
Sion Abajian this is the name of a women who grew up during the "Armenian Genocide". When Sion was a child she had too leave her homeland of Meskeneh to go to Der-Zor. Sion's mother and herself went though the Euphrates River to Rakka after the little time that she and her mother lived there with Sion's father the group of three would live in a tent and if anyone saw them they would move it to a new place. Once Sion and her family got to Rakka they found a abandoned home with no doors or windows and the family used to eat grains from animal waste and when they washed the cans they put the waste in to eat Sion used to say " Oh mommy if we ever go back to Marash just give us fried wheat and it will be enough.". The unanswered question was "Was there any violent things that Sion and her family saw along the way to Rakka."
